‘Over The Edge’ for Kidznotes!

Kidznotes is a music for social change program based on the El Sistema model of youth orchestras, which started in Venezuela and has now spread worldwide.

Kidznotes engages students, pre-K through 12th grade, in an intense, fully integrated, out-of-school musical program that includes instrumental instruction, choir, music theory, general music, orchestra, and band.

What is ‘Over the Edge’?

Over the Edge’ is a Canadian-based adventure company. The event allows participants to raise funds for Kidznotes in exchange for the opportunity to rappel the Capital Bank Plaza building in downtown Raleigh. One of the top fundraisers was Joe Kwon, the cellist for the Avett Brothers.

We were on site to record footage for Social Solved, the company that manages Kidznotes social media presence.

No, we didn’t rappel…they had elevators.

First, the facts –

  • As of 2011, plumbers working in the United States made an average of $51,830, or about $24.92 per hour, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • With an expected job growth rate of 26 percent between 2010 and 2020, the employment outlook for prospective plumbers is excellent.

If you have any doubts about plumbing being a great career choice, thePlumber.com has a great article for you.

An addition to our Career Opportunities in North Carolina series, this project was produced for US Careers Online and sponsored by American Standard Brands/LIXIL Water Technologies Americas along with Davidson County Community College(DCCC) and Wake Tech.

American Standard sent Vinny Arnese down to our studio from NYC. Vinny is a Regional Training Manager, and has a wealth of knowledge about the plumbing industry, particularly when it comes to plumbing as a career. He had some sobering facts about an impending shortage of plumbers.

Davidson County Community College has a plumbing program based out of, wait for it…Richard Childress Racing. Yep. We filmed interviews and b-roll at the Richard Childress Racing Museum in Lexington, NC as the students were learning gas line installation techniques.

More interviews with students and the instructor were shot at Wake Tech’s plumbing facility, which includes a mock-up of a framed house inside for the students to practice on.

Project Story

Originally part of a continuing series produced in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and US Careers Online, this video was sponsored by Brady Services. They liked the result, and asked if we could re-edit a version that they could use to inform high school age kids about the career opportunities with Brady Services.

'We Believe' - Project Story

We’ve provided video production services for the Ronald McDonald House of Durham & Wake for several years. The house is easily one of our favorite places to be, and the people who work and volunteer there are some of the most wonderful we’ve ever known. ‘We Believe’ was a small social media piece we did in 2017, but is still in use today.
