What We're About
Where we are
Our studio is about 20 minutes from RTP, although we’re anywhere the job takes us. From a mine in British Columbia to a university in NM to a soybean field in Pantego, NC, we provide professional video production services specifically designed to deliver your information and generate results while staying within your budget.
Wonder why we’d be hired to shoot video in BC or NM when they obviously have local production companies? Cost. We’re generally more cost effective, even with the travel factor added in. It’s our business model.
What we do
But don’t let the country location fool you. We’ve shot and produced video projects all over the world for individuals, small businesses and Fortune 100 companies. For 19 years we were the in-house production company for BellSouth’s Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta.
We want to understand your business, your goals, and your products so that we can deliver the perfect creative solution.
What we're like
Aside from the fact that we started in the 90’s to provide an alternative to the typical wasteful, inefficient production model – there are other areas where we stand out. We’re extremely easy to work with! We love what we do, and you’ll see that when we’re working with you. We have a lot of fun, but in a ‘professional’ sort of way.
We also dive into our client’s industry and world. We try to develop a great understanding of what you do, so that we can create a video that feels like you.
Who is creative illusions?
KIM BRAME
Producer/Director
Kim is our main producer/director. Kim has a gift for putting people at ease in front of the camera so their message comes across as unrehearsed, confident and most importantly – sincere. This ability allows creative illusions to deliver real messaging from real people as easily as with paid talent. She has directed and produced LIVE broadcast productions, webcasts, training and marketing tools and commercials both for TV & Internet.
Her favorite movie of all time is ‘The Wizard of Oz’. She collects all things related to the Wicked Witch of the West.
We have no idea why.
STEVE BRAME
Technical Director/Whatever Kim Tells Him to Be
Starting out as a firefighter/paramedic, then owning a landscaping company which led(somehow) to a degree in Information Technology, Steve is on his 4th career. With that IT background, Steve was the obvious choice to oversee the technical aspects of the company. Since the vast majority of our projects are produced for web delivery, that’s Steve’s main job as Technical Director – making sure it works. Originally joining the team to handle web development, the rapidly evolving landscape of digital video production offered many opportunities for skill set expansion.
Plus, if your heart stops, he’s pretty good at CPR.

Our Former
Interns
Derek was one of our very first interns during our Atlanta years. Eventually becoming a full team member, Derek worked on a large number of our projects. Derek now owns and operates his own production company in the Atlanta area – Crevo Visual Media, Inc.
Derek Arwood
Rico Reese
Rico Reese came to us from Western Carolina University. Though he was a football player, and eventually went on to play professionally in the Arena Football League, he never lost his love of production. Rico picked up a camera when he first joined us as an intern, and none of us can remember him ever putting it down the entire summer he was there. Rico was a critical part of our team during our production series for the 2005 National Boy Scout Jamboree in Fredricksburg, VA. He felt most comfortable either with a camera in his hand, or sitting at an editing suite. We even talked him into a few on-camera spots, as shown in his photo.
Rico currently owns Rico Reese Visuals, his production company in Atlanta, GA.
Lee Guthrie
Lee was our very first intern after moving our company to NC. Coming from the Film Studies program at NC State University, Lee did quite a bit of traveling with us. Lee worked on projects in Williams Lake and Vancouver, British Columbia, Phoenix, AZ, and Portland, OR. One of the projects Lee worked on won a Telly Award. After a couple of years as a news editor for WRAL in Raleigh, Lee has now moved to Atlanta to edit for WXIA-TV.
Daniel Rode
Daniel Rode was another of our NC State interns that eventually became a full team member. Daniel was part of the intern group that created the online series ‘Street Foodie Diaries‘ based on the food truck scene in the NC Triangle area. Daniel also got to travel with us a bit working on a live webcast we produced during the March Madness tournament in Dallas,TX.
Daniel current works as a video editor for a prominent gaming company in Cary, NC
Emily Taylor
Emily was also part of the NC State intern group that founded the online series, ‘Street Foodie Diaries‘ about the food truck scene in the Triangle area of NC. Emily current works at Vermont PBS as a Brand and Identity Producer.
Chrissie Mainster
Coming to us from Western Carolina University as a solo intern, Chrissie fit right in with our ‘Swiss Army Knife’ model. We immediately tossed her into a soybean field in eastern NC at the start of our US Careers Online series – something that she has never let us forget.
Chrissie currently works as a news editor in Atlanta for WXIA-TV.
